A topologically unique alternating {(Co3Gd3III)-Gd-III} magnetocaloric ring.

The adiabatic temperature change of the star-shaped {(Co3Gd3III)-Gd-III} magnetocaloric ring is enhanced via topological control over the assembly process, by using a pre-formed {Co-II(H6L)} building block that undergoes oxidation to Co-III, successfully separating the Gd-III ions.
